Here’s my latest painting, which I was recently asked to create so it could be given as a housewarming gift for a sweet family who recently moved in to this beautiful home. It was to be a surprise, which made it all the more fun for me, and why you have not seen it until now.
The first step in the process was to take photos at various times during the day. My hope was to capture the sun working its magic. I was particularly delighted when this view was the one chosen for the painting for several reasons: First, there isn’t a cloud in the sky, creating a beautiful blue backdrop. Then there is the way the sunlight is playing across the front of the house, the roof and the lawn. Notice also the reflections in the windows and how you can see the interior steps inside the tall windows on the left. Finally, note how the lantern on the front porch casts a shadow above the front door. Light - and especially sunlight - makes all the difference!
