The setting sun casting its hue on Old Baldy and the tops of the trees, along with the pending darkness apparent at the base of the lighthouse and around the little museum on the left, all tell us this beautiful fall day is about to turn to night. It's all in the details!

As morning breaks in this magnificent scene, notice the drama of color and movement in the clouds juxtaposed with the reflection of the sun on a relatively calm and serene sea. I hope you can take a moment to pause and enjoy the beauty of it all.
The inspiration photo for this painting was taken on East Beach at Bald Head Island, NC.

The blue in the sky, the movement in the clouds, the newly budding trees and the depth of colors of the heather in the fields all contribute to the beauty captured in this painting.
This is the Glenfinnan Monument in Scotland. The statue at the top honors Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Edward Stuart), who raised an army of Highlanders to fight the English in 1745. He is seen as the rightful King of Scotland.
For all of you who are Harry Potter fans, this is also the magical setting of the Harry Potter films. Here you can witness the steam railway line and the ‘Hogwarts Express’ crossing the world-famous Glenfinnan Viaduct on Loch Shiel!
