This painting is of South Beach, where the setting sun casts a glow along the horizon, turning  the sky from a deep, dark blue to a warm, soft orange. The sun is also reflecting across the water and creating a translucence in the waves as they gently roll towards shore. Because of the position of the sun, the wet sand is a lovely burnished bronze, with flecks of light sparkling here and there. It is the play of light, created by the magic of the sun, that makes this painting speak!

In this painting you see the BHI icon, Old Baldy, from the unique vantage point of West Beach and the Cape Fear river. The setting sun casts soft hues of pink, purple and peach in the clouds in the sky, creating a lovely back drop for the lighthouse and the lush greens in the palm trees and sea oats too.

They say Bald Head Island is the northernmost area on the east coast where palm trees are a native species!

This painting speaks quietly yet majestically of the beauty of an early morning sunrise on Bald Head Island. The light reflecting off the calm ocean waters call you to stop, take a deep breath, and soak it all in.

Now exhale and enjoy the rest of your day!
